Sequim Bay Yacht Club arranges hospice meet

The second week of this month will see the twenty-third Sequim Bay Yacht Club Reach for Hospice Regatta. The race will take place on Sequim Bay, on 12th Sep, Saturday, beginning at noon, with a skippers’ meeting at 10:30 am.
In this event, the Sequim Bay Yacht Club has secured over US$ 256000 for the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. All are asked to see it from the John Wayne Marina as the sailors channelize their boats for position at beginning line and battle for the lead. Several starts for class A racing, class B cruising, as well as class C for boats twenty feet and under are programmed.
VHOCC offers care targeted at education, support and symptom management for those families and individuals facing the emotional and physical disputes of a terminal illness. Eight nurses, as well as around hundred-and-fifty volunteers, offer care and equipment at no cost to those people getting services. Anyone could serve this effort by sending a tax-deductible donation to VHOCC at 540 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
Mark agrees with Reach for Hospice and, if coveted, the name of a boat you are backing. The top fundraiser of SBYC for many years has been Bob McClinton with his yacht Intrepid. At the age of ninety, he races his boat throughout the year on a regular basis and is a top competitor in racing and fundraising.

SBYC will relish with a potluck dinner after the race at the John Wayne Marina. The Fred Tidyman Trophy will be handed to the fastest boat as well as the crew in every division.
Mickey McGuffin Sportsmanship Award will be handed by the recipient of last year, Torben Blichfeld, to a member of the club who has put up most to the sport as well as to the spirit of sailing.
