Inland Lake Yachting Association championship to come back

The Inland Lake Yachting Association Annual Championship meet comes back to Lake Geneva this year, drawing in well known yacht racing captains and crew members from all across United States to participate in the country’s top lake sailing event of 2016.

The meet, the 2nd of a 3-year series at Lake Geneva, is prepared by the Inland Lake Yachting Association and hosted by the Lake Geneva Yacht Club (one of the oldest yacht clubs in U.S. founded in 1874), at the newly built Buddy Melges Sailing Center.

Inland Lake Yachting Association
The Inland Lake Yachting Association meet last year was the very first top sailing event that took place at the new sailing center. It drew in well known and experienced sailors from New Jersey, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Florida.

The Inland Lake Yachting Association meet that showcases 4 of the premier scow classes, would also take place at the Sailing Center next year. The Regatta 2016 will have five days of racing and Yacht Chartering, from 17th August to 21st August. The Award Ceremony will take place on 21st August, Sunday.

Lake Geneva Yacht Club Commodore Rod Rieger stated that the excitement is already mounting for next year’s event in the Lake Geneva community. The 2015 Inland was a grand success with the fabulous new Buddy Melges Sailing Center showing off its ability to host the full spectrum of ILYA sailing.

ILYA Commodore Steve Schmidt told that the ILYA is proud to be able to carry on their collaboration with the Lake Geneva Yacht Club for the Championship meet this coming year which will bring four of our long standing fleets together for what should be another fantastic event.
