The blind match racing sailing event that was scheduled from September 21st 2016 had to be delayed for several days as the teams had to wait for the fog to clear out and the wind to pick up.
There were five teams contesting that comprised of teams from Canada, Israel, Great Britain and United States. The world championship finally starts on Friday. The British team consisted of skipper Vicki
, who was at the helm of the boat and the team emerged as an early leader as they won all the matches.
She stated that the conditions were congenial for the match. With the perfect wind strength and a little amount of disturbance in the water and waves the sailing was lovely. This dominant team practiced about three days before the contest on Friday. Vicki also credited the Blind Sailing program that offered them a glimpse of how teamwork can be achieved in a seamless manner even without proper vision. Continue reading
With Rio games round the corner, there is much excitement and preparation in the air. For those who have already been part of such events and won accolades for the same, it is time that they inspire those who are getting ready for the epic battles.
One such authority figure is Josh Adams, who is managing director of the US Olympic Sailing Association. He has recently penned an open letter to all US sailors who have qualified for the event.
He states that the sailors who would be marching up the lines as part of the country’s Olympic sailing team need to be confident that they have put into rigorous preparations in order to be competent for the event. The Olympic quadrennial that was created by team Sperry helped the sailors to experience the kind of environment they would be facing in the Rio games. Continue reading

The wealthiest citizens of China are not a huge fans of yachts. Unlike the mega riches of other nations, they would rather purchase luxury hotels or private planes than buying boats. Once, the Italian Trade Commission figured that just one out of every 318 high-net-worth individuals in the mainland China owns a yacht, and that figure is twenty five in Hong Kong.
Now, the yacht market of China is losing yet another business source. The Chinese firms are casting out luxury boats, as they concern the ownership of this ultimate status symbol would invite unwanted attention in the midst of President Xi Jinping’s anti-graft push.
