Two Wins For Team NZ In Three Races

Team New Zealand is pleased with their hand and they have laid their cards on the table.

The team after spending almost a month in hibernation in Auckland got into some racing in Bermuda recently. Till this time, only the chase boat of the team was at spar in mock match races. In Bermuda, the team had its first show after the gap, and Glenn Ashby with his crew impressed the spectators with their first performance on the water. They competed in three matches out of which they got the win three and that included the confidence-boosting win over Artemis. Artemis is the same team who sets the pace and performed well in the initial rounds of the practice racing that was official.

The appearance of Emirates Team New Zealand in the fourth round of practice racing on the final day has been just a week past when the New Zealand team launched its catamaran of the America’s Cup Class (ACC) in Bermuda.

A strong statement was made by Team NZ, dealing with the team of Sweden after their 2nd loss in 17 outings. After competing and getting the win over Artemis, the NZ team Kiwis also got the win over French team Groupama.

In three matches, the only failure of NZ’s was the loss to Team Japan.

In spite of the loss, Peter Burling said the team members are happy with their 1st proper hit-out.

“The team of Japan was sailing really well, and during the race we too had some stuff-ups there. But Japan team overthrew Oracle and Jimmy, they were a good team no doubt,” Said Burling.

“Overall the match was good and while competing with Japan team, we understood the areas where we are lacking and that require more focus” Burling added.
